On October 22, DM Bio (Co-presidents Min Byung-jo and Kawasaki Yoshikuni) announced that the company had signed a comprehensive business agreement with Incheon Techno Park (Director Seo Byung-jo) on ‘Bio Industry Development and the Expansion of Cooperation’ in the afternoon of October 21 at the grand conference room on the 6F of the MeetYouAll Tower in Songdo International City.

Representatives of the two parties including President Min Byung-jo of DM Bio and Director Seo Byung-jo of Incheon Techno Park attended the signing ceremony.

This business agreement was prepared to foster the bio-industry, one of the country’s future growth engines and a strategic industry of Incheon in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The two organizations will actively cooperate on the fostering of professional human resources for the bio-industry through the newly established Bioprocess Human Resource Development Center, as well as collaborating on the sharing of technical information and the joint use of infrastructure, the discovery and planning of central government projects, the establishment of bio clusters, policy development and advisory matters, and technical support, all of which are necessary for creating a bio-health industry ecosystem like the Incheon Bio Health Valley.

DM Bio is a biosimilar company founded by Dong-A Socio Group in cooperation with Meiji Seika Pharma. It is equipped with a cGMP-level antibody biopharmaceutical production facility with a total capacity of 8,000L, and has received GMP compliance approval from Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA). DM Bio not only produces biosimilars jointly developed by the two companies, but also runs a CDMO business that provides such services as contract manufacturing and process development.

To expand the CDMO business, the company recently received consulting from Lachman, USA on the US FDA standards for the GMP system (Quality Material, Production, Laboratory, Microbiology, Computerized Systems, Facility & Engineering), and also established a research center.

Incheon Techno Park is a subsidiary of Incheon Metropolitan City that was established to promote the local economy and improve the quality of life of Incheon’s citizens through the development of domestic industrial technology and the fostering of SMEs.

President Min Byung-jo of DM Bio said, “Songdo International City, which is home to a number of domestic bio companies, is a very attractive city as a bridgehead for overseas markets. By cooperating closely with Incheon Techno Park, we will try to contribute to the development of the bio-health industry and job creation in Incheon.”

Director Seo Byung-jo of Incheon Techno Park said, “DM Bio’s know-how on the establishment of GMP compliant facilities will be a great addition to the development of professional manpower in the future. We expect DM Bio’s know-how will serve as a powerful catalyst in accelerating the growth of the bio-health industry and creating good-quality jobs.”
