On September 5, Dong-A Socio Holdings (President Han Jong-hyun) announced that the company had held pharmacology lectures for students at the Yangon National University of Pharmacy in Myanmar on the 4th and presented scholarships.


The event was organized to contribute to the development of Myanmar’s public health and pharmaceutical industry by assisting the development of talents who will grow as leaders of the next generation. President Han Jong-hyun of Dong-A Socio Holdings and President Yee Yee Tin of the University of Pharmacy, Yangon attended the event. Dong-A Socio Holdings has been providing pharmacological lectures at the University of Pharmacy, Yangon every year since 2014.


Continuing from last year, President Han Jong-hyun of Dong-A Socio Holdings gave this year’s lecture on the topic of ‘Preparing for a Bright Future’ and shared his insights about how students should prepare for their future.


After the lecture, Researcher Yang Seong-min of Dong-A ST gave a presentation on the process of developing a new drug, arousing the curiosity of the students.


Along with the lectures, the Sooseok Culture Foundation sponsored 16 students with scholarships worth USD 500 each for their annual tuition fees, for a total of USD 8000.


Since 2014, the Sooseok Culture Foundation has been granting scholarships to students of the University of Pharmacy, Yangon who excel academically or who experience financial hardship. By the end of last year, the Foundation had awarded scholarships worth a total of USD 28,000 to 56 university students.


The Sooseok Culture Foundation was established by Honorary Chairman Gang Shin-ho of Dong-A Socio Group in 1987 to foster talents and contribute to social development.


An executive of Dong-A Socio Holdings said, “I hope that Myanmar university students will grow into responsible talents who are willing to work for others. The company will continue engaging in various social contribution activities at home and abroad to foster future talents.”
