On December 2, Dong-A Socio Holdings (President Han Jong-hyun) announced its acquisition of the ISO27001 certification, the international standard for information security management systems.
The ceremony commemorating the acquisition of the ISO27001 certification was held on November 29 at the Credos Club of the Dong-A Socio Group headquarters. President Han Jong-hyun of Dong-A Socio Holdings, PRESIDENT Song Gyeong-su of BSI Korea, and Trade Policy Counselor Daniel Carruthers of the British Embassy in Korea attended the ceremony along with various other officials.
ISO27001 is an international standard certification for information security management systems established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). In order to obtain the certification, it is necessary to pass all of the strict screening processes in 14 areas and 114 detailed criteria of information security management, such as information security policy, physical security, access control, and legal compliance.
Dong-A Socio Holdings has carried out a departmental system/key data identification survey, established information security policies and guidelines, and conducted internal security audits in order to protect its information, the most valuable asset of any company, from threats, and to build a systematic information security management system for its global business.
Last September, the company held a declaration ceremony of information security management in recognition of the paramount importance of information security. In addition, the company has made company-wide efforts such as appointing security auditors to carry out information security activities within the company, and notifying and training employees about its information security activities.
Dong-A Socio Holdings plans to expand its information security management system to group affiliates and subsidiaries in a bid to create a consistent information security management system and to strengthen the level of information security among the affiliates and subsidiaries of Dong-A Socio Group in the future.
An executive of Dong-A Socio Holdings said, “With this ISO27001 certification, Dong-A Socio Holdings’ security system has been recognized as having reached the global company level. We promise to continue inspecting and operating the information security management system with pride and responsibility based on an annual audit and validation, rather than limiting it to a one-off event.”
