On June 19, 2019, Dong-A Socio Group announced an employee-participatory corporate culture project called 'Hoeba Hoeba' to improve overall work efficiency and performance.
The ‘Hoeba Hoeba’ project, which roughly means ‘a company changes when its conference culture changes’, is designed to create an effective conference culture that will lead to reasonable conclusions.
Earlier, Dong-A Socio Group surveyed all of its employees at Dong-A Socio Holdings, Dong-A ST and Dong-A Pharm in an effort to diagnose its corporate culture. The survey led to implementation of the project in response to the need for an improved conference culture, a broad consensus, and enhanced decision-making processes.
To implement and spread the ‘Hoeba Hoeba’ project, Dong-A Socio Group has established the ‘Concluding 10-10 Conference Rule’ as the basic rule that everyone at the conference must follow to ensure an effective conference. It is composed of two sets of ten rules for the organizer and attendees, respectively, including four rules on conference preparation, four rules on listening to, respecting, and advancing constructive criticism of others, and two rules on optimal conclusion and rational execution.
The ‘hoeba’ checklist ? a strategic tool for the holding of an effective conference, standard minutes, conclusion timers, hoeba hoeba posters, and banners explaining the conference rules and etiquette - will be placed in all conference rooms of Dong-A Socio Group.
The hoeba hoeba checklist is a tool for diagnosing how well the Concluding 10-10 Conference Rule is being followed. The standard minutes record the basic information, goal and agenda, contents, results, and follow-up of a conference for efficient progress of the conference and sharing and executing conclusions after the conference. The conclusion timer is designed to improve the concentration of the conference attendees and to ensure that the goal of the conference is reached within the set time.
An executive of Dong-A Socio Holdings said, “Conferences take up a large part of our working hours. Employee’s performance and satisfaction with their work can be improved if we eliminate unnecessary or lengthy conferences.
