Dong-A Socio Holdings has acquired the Anti-Corruption Management System ISO 37001 Certification from the BSI (British Royal Standards Association).
On April 10, 2019, Dong-A Socio Holdings and BSI Korea held a ceremony in the afternoon to present the certification at its Yongdu-dong headquarters in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. The ceremony was attended by President Han Jong-hyun of Dong-A Socio Holdings, Vice-Ambassador Nik Metha of the British Embassy in Seoul, Executive Director Pietro Foschi of BSI Group, COO Michael Lam of BSI Asia-Pacific, CEO Lee Jong-ho of BSI Korea and other executives.
The ISO 37001 anti-corruption management system certification is Korea’s first internationally recognized certification issued by the BSI with accreditation from ANAB. The BSI issues certificates to companies that apply for certification through various audits, while the ANAB is an accreditation body that manages, supervises, and certifies auditors.
The ISO 37001 is an anti-corruption management system designed to proactively identify and control corruption within an organization according to the standards set by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization).
To obtain the certification, Dong-A Socio Holdings selected internal auditors last July and formed an anti-corruption committee to establish and operate an anti-corruption management system. Also, company-wide efforts were made to establish, execute, maintain, and improve the anti-corruption management system by identifying and assessing potential risks of bribery in each department. In December of last year, BSI Korea comprehensively assessed the corruption risk diagnosis and control measures, internal and external corruption related to business activities, and improvement measures in terms of corporate vision, strategy, finance, and development.
Dong-A Socio Holdings held the ‘Declaration Ceremony of Righteous Management’ last year to motivate employees to practice righteous management for the transparent management of the Group, improve trust at home and abroad, and fulfill its corporate social responsibility. Starting with its acquisition of the ISO 37001 certification, the Group plans to further strengthen its righteous management system by introducing the ISO 26000 (Corporate Social Responsibility) certification and to expand the righteous management system to affiliates within the Group.
CEO Lee Jong-ho of BSI Korea said, “Dong-A Socio Holdings has implemented international-level process and management standards for anti-bribery and corruption with its acquisition of the ISO 37001 anti-corruption management system.”
President Han Jong-ho of Dong-A Socio Holdings said, “Righteous management is now a responsibility and an obligation, not something we can choose, as the application of laws related to anti-corruption at home and abroad has been strengthened. Today’s work is tomorrow’s responsibility. We need to create a transparent corporate culture that is supported by the constant interest and participation of all employees.”
