On April 15, 2019, the Sooseok Culture Foundation announced the signing of a sponsorship agreement with the Seoul Association of Rehabilitation Welfare Centers for disabled family scholarship support at the Yongshin-dong headquarters of Dong-A Socio Holdings in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.

Executives, including President Han Jong-hyun of Dong-A Socio Holdings and Chairman Cho Seok-young of the Seoul Association of Rehabilitation Welfare Centers, attended the signing ceremony.

This agreement grants scholarships to students who are unable to complete their studies due to economic hardship to enable them to continue pursuing their studies. The Seoul Association of Rehabilitation Welfare Centers will select eligible university students who are willing to continue with their studies while also supporting their parents or siblings with disabilities. The Sooseok Culture Foundation will grant scholarship to selected students until graduation.

An official of the Sooseok Culture Foundation said, “Many students abandon their studies due to economic difficulties. We will continue to expand our scholarship programs so that students in difficult circumstances can realize their dreams without giving up their opportunity to learn.”

Established in 1987, Dong-A Socio Group has renamed the ‘Sooseok Scholarship’ into the ‘Sooseok Culture Foundation’ to operate scholarship programs. Each year, the Sooseok Culture Foundation grants scholarships to high school and university students who set good examples for others through their outstanding academic achievements in order to nurture responsible talents with altruistic principles.
